About Me
As a registered nurse, I’ve spent over 40 years in nursing education, focusing on maternal-child and community health, along with hands-on clinical work and research. That experience shapes everything I do as a health writer today. As a doctorally prepared nurse, my work focuses on supporting both moms and dads as they transition into parenthood. Overall, I enjoy writing about families and their health needs.
As a freelance health writer, I turn complex medical and nursing information into content that’s clear, engaging, and grounded in evidence. Whether I’m writing for patients, healthcare professionals, or organizations, my goal is always the same: to create content that informs, empowers, and is easy to understand without losing accuracy.
What Does a Freelance Health Writer Do?
Basically, I take health information and make it easy for everyday people to understand.
Here’s what that looks like in my work:
- Creating content tailored to specific audiences, like patients or the general public
- Breaking down complex medical research into plain, understandable language
- Helping healthcare organizations communicate clearly and effectively
At the end of the day, I act as a bridge between the medical world and the people who need reliable information to make informed decisions about their health.

On a personal note:
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my husband, especially when we can sneak away on a trip together. I also enjoy cheering on my two daughters in their careers and two granddaughters at high school band performances, volleyball games, and life at college—it’s some of my favorite family time.
We make it a point to visit the beach each year and stay connected with our extended family whenever we can.
At home, I share life with two orange-and-white cats who started out feral but have since fully adopted us. They now enjoy the best of both worlds as indoor-outdoor cats.
